A new year must have resolutions. Here are mine:
1) I resolve not to embark on a fitness programme of any sort. My once a week hour of Pilates and a few strolls around the block are quite enough for me thank you.
2) I resolve not to take up smoking. I think this will be pretty easy.
3) I resolve not to go on a diet in any shape or form.
4) I resolve, like Ali, to eat only delicious food.
5) I resolve not to drink less alcohol.
6) I resolve not to drink less coffee
7) I resolve to keep buying cookery books no matter how many I already own. Ditto yarn.
8) I resolve not to go camping.
I'm already really good at all these so I anticipate a high success rate for my 2014 resolutions. Go me.
With resolutions numbers 3 and 4 in mind I have marked Twelfth Night with a Galette des Rois to which I had added chocolate chips.
Brilliant ..... I like your style Sue!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year
love Jooles x x x
In my opinion, there is almost no recipe that cannot be improved by a liberal application of chocolate chips. And my only New Year's resolution each year is to make no resolutions at all. Ever. I've spent too many years beating myself up about that kind of thing. Hope you have fun as you "struggle" to keep yours.
ReplyDeleteI like your list, very much. Husband says he is resolving to make his face a little fatter this year. That sounds very doable too.
ReplyDeleteWell they all seem like pretty good resolutions to strive for to me.
ReplyDeletefabulous list x
ReplyDeleteWay to go.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant resolutions, just the best.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Dieting at any time of year is torture, but contemplating it in January? No no no! And I'm perfectly happy walking for exercise. That and housework. Gyms are horrible, horrible places.
ReplyDeleteLife isn't about imposing regimes on yourself.
Good for you :)
Wahooo!
ReplyDeleteAx
My favourite bit of your post? The 'go me'. Brilliant!

Ha ha! Bloody brilliant attitude towards the usual New Year 'doomed to fail' resolutions....have a similar list m'self!
ReplyDeleteOh good, I think I might do most of these as well. So happy to read a blog post that doesn't make me feel inadequate.
ReplyDeleteThose sound like my kind of resolutions!
ReplyDeleteI resolve to shamelessly steal other people's resolutions if they sound great!
ReplyDeleteGood on you Sue. I admire the way that you know your own mind so very well and are not worried about telling us. Please stay just as you are unless you want to be different. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a refreshing and brilliant post, Sue!! I love your sense of humour.... it definitively makes a change from the sentimentality of other blogs....
ReplyDeleteHave a great New Year!, I look forward to your posts,
Pati x
Sue, you've really done a fine list ...I do think that we are on similar wavelengths with regard to resolutions. (I do admit to a curiosity about Pilates...never tried it, though I do admire friends who say it's worth trying. Might give it a go in 2014. Will let you know if I do.)
ReplyDeleteThat biscuit recipe in the prior post also caught my attention. Might also give it a go. Cannot now quite foretell which will come first chocolate biscuits or Pilates.
xo
Absolutely love your resolutions. I resolved not to go camping years ago, though not on a new year, and have kept it successfully ever since. Enjoy your pastry; it looks so delicious I'm sure it must be gone by now.

I love your resolutions - totally with you on number 7!!! I am just resolving to knit more socks this year - and as I've already started a pair I think I should be able to achieve that!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very happy list of resolutions indeed! I'm sure you'll be extremely successful. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell we all benefit from your resolution to eat only delicious food so go you!
ReplyDeleteResolutions you'll be able to rigidly stick to. I see 2014 being a fabulous year for you Sue :0)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you and your family x
A woman after my own heart!
ReplyDeleteFabulous list. I don't drink coffee but I'm with you on all of the others, especially the dieting! I think we're all totally brain-washed to believe thinner is healthier but I don't believe it. I've had arthritis in my left knee for years. Years ago I lost 4 stone in 6 months but my knee was worse than ever even though it was relieved (presumably) of some of the strain on it. My weight isn't good but stays stable & my knee is OK. I've also watched endless programmes about how bad dieting can be & have been down the Weightwatchers, Slimming World routes several times, so I think your attitude is right. Do what makes you happy, healthy, fits into your life...
ReplyDeleteGo you, Sue! Falling off my chair laughing....
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Sue - love your list!
ReplyDelete9) I resolve not to try to try to change my sense of humour. It is already almost perfect. :-)
ReplyDeleteoops! too many tries...
ReplyDeleteLove this post.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
ReplyDeleteI have just resolved to make a Galette des Rois on Sunday.
What a good looking Galette. With the exception of resolutions 6 and 7 which I don't do, I concur that your list is a very fine one.
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the food this year. Tamar Adler has made a convert of me, and it was because you liked her book that I finally decided to buy it. So it's only right and proper that you keep buying more.
ReplyDeleteyou're funny.
ReplyDelete(can you bring me a slice of that galette later?)
I like the style of your resolutions. Your Galette looks gorgeous
ReplyDeleteBrilliant resolutions. The cake looks fab too!
