It did snow. As you can see.
We have about seven inches of the stuff now.
Katie has been out in it all day.
George has walked to college to find it closed. Now he is building a snow mountain on the front lawn.
Charlie went to work as usual and came home at lunch time.
I have been in the garden to take photos.
Only Tom has remained firmly indoors. He says he will build a snowman tomorrow.
I am not going to build a snowman, or even make a snowball. I am staying firmly indoors until it all goes away. I am so glad that I bought the Persephone book of short stories that arrived yesterday...
ReplyDeleteWe have zero snow and I am about to collect a very grumpy boy. Wish me luck. And snow...Ax
ReplyDeleteAs predicted, our snow did not materialize. Your's looks glorious -- I admit I am a bit jealous.
ReplyDeleteAre her short wellies long enough for that impressive depth of snow?
ReplyDeleteShort wellies were deemed useless and she has gone back to the old leaky ones which seem to have stopped leaking. Waste of £12.99.
DeleteThe only reson they seem to have stopped leaking is perhaps the FIVE pairs of socks?!?
DeleteOoh, LOTS of snow with you then. we currently have what I consider to be a smattering, and what the rest of the several hundred folk getting in my way in Tesco this morning clearly assumed to be life-threatening. just goes to show how different people have different perpectives, eh?! Looking forward to pictures of snow mountains/men in due course.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't much snow, its very very cold, the snow hits the ground and melts!
ReplyDeleteOur Tesco and Morrisons were quite empty this morning!
Julie xxxxxxx
I'm so jealous! We had about 8 flakes, which were swiftly washed away by the rain that followed.
ReplyDeleteRaining here now too... all horrible and slushy. If it's got to be cold, I'd rather have your stuff!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Sue.
We have rain...lots of rain...torrential, cold, horrid rain. Jealous! xx
ReplyDeleteWe've got only a light covering and I must be honest, I don't envy you. I love snow as long as we don't have to go out and about - and tomorrow we have to be in town by 8.30am. Hope you and yours continue to have fun in it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, that's my kind of snow. Hope it continues to be enjoyable. I have just read this bullet point on the BBC News website though and I'd really like someone to explain it! "In Shropshire, snow forced the Telford ski centre to close its ski slope "!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha!
Deleteha, I liked that Telford ski centre story as well! Lovely photos, I have been too busying shovelling to take any......
ReplyDeleteThink Tom's got the right idea - stay in if no urgent need to go out!
ReplyDeleteWill you be posting what you cooked during this weather? I know a lot of us want to know!
Great pictures Sue, I'm hoping we'll have as much as that if we get the blizzard they are predicting. Julie x
ReplyDeleteOoh, you've had lots! It snowed all day here, but very fine snow so we only have an inch or two to show for it. (Not that I'm complaining) Hope you're keeping warm while all those crazy kids go and have fun in the snow. :-)
ReplyDeleteS x
Beautiful pictures....i particularly like the one of (your?) daughter through the snow. I have just found your blog and so far i'm loving it :)
ReplyDeleteMandy
Yes that's my daughter Katie having just flung a shovelful of snow into the air.
DeleteSeven inches? Lucky!! We've had only smatterings so far this winter. I yearn for a big one that will force us to cuddle in with hot chocolate and board games. When the youngest family member isn't tearing down hills or building snow folk, that is. Enjoy, and be careful.
ReplyDeleteOooohh, congratulations! It looks like lovely light and fluffy stuff!
ReplyDeleteSue, you snow scenes are so beautiful, and the upcoming weekend menu plans from your prior post sound perfect for this weather. Puddings definitely required!
ReplyDeleteOver here in New York, the weather is quite cold but we continue to avoid snow. That is bound to change in the coming weeks.
xo
Shades of Narnia! Don't forget to get your haggis and malt in for Burn's night on the 25th! Keep your cockles warm!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue - Your photos are just lovely. Love the one with Katie enjoying the snow. Not sure where I would rather be - it is so very hot here (Queensland). No rain. Bush Fires and an unending stream of hot days, or over your way. Have heard on the News here that the UK has had much snow. Living on a diet of ice blocks and ice cold ginger beer. Never mind - enjoying the tennis from Melbourne (it was 40 degrees the other day). Roger has just seen off the young usurper. Now watching the two French boys doing battle. Take good care in the Winter conditions and I am sure you are cooking up a storm for the family.
ReplyDeleteForget to say - the first photo just rocks my boat - brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy Kate got her snow.
ReplyDeleteYour pics are superb.
Down in Adelaide today we have had a beautiful 24 degree day and a barbeque lunch.
Keep warm, I know you'll be well-fed.
I reckon we're on our way to getting similar amounts as it's started again today. Looks very pretty but I'm sure it'll cause chaos at the beginning of another working/school week. Stay warm xx
ReplyDeleteIt's coming down again here now too!
DeleteOooh, proper big fat snowflakes! Lovely. Ours have melted on impact today - too near the sea to hang around, I guess.
