Red Floor

Thursday, 4 September 2014

When we moved into our house 17 years ago I stood in the middle of my new kitchen and declared 'this floor has got to go'.

Yesterday it finally went.

Actually it's still there, underneath this fab cherry red vinyl floor.

So much better.

It's from the Colour Flooring Company  and this is not a sponsored post (none of my posts are).

  16. Sue, that cherry color is both chic and cheery, too. It's grand to see the actual room in which you create the fabulous dishes you show us.

With my little closet of a kitchen, I admit to envying you that light and counter space and storage, as well. What a grand place!

  21. Love it, love it, love it! But then, red is my favourite colour. Also, it's really nice to get a look at your kitchen. I'm one of those horrible house snoops who love to go out walking at dusk when people's lights are on but they haven't yet closed their curtains. That way I can peek into their homes and see what they look like.

Rad, man. I had the same reaction to some ugly paneling when we moved into the house, and it took me about the same length of time to do something about it. Life gets in the way. Well, would you have chosen this floor 17 years ago?

    Hi, looks absolutely gorgeous :-)
Did you have to cover over the tiles with anything before laying the vinyl? we have cream coloured tiles that I hate and would love to cover the, with dark wood look alike vinyl many thanks Jane

    1. Jane, that's a good question because we had a few flooring chaps come and look at our floor and one said we would need a layer of ply on top of our tiles in case their pattern 'bled through'. Another chap said that was very unlikely to happen with pale tiles and a red floor. We went with that chap as he was cheap!

  29. Wow! That is a strikingly bold color! It is sure not for the faint of heart, or eyes! LOL
I've had and loved red wall I've painted, but I would never have thought of having a red floor. It looks so fab!

  30. Many thanks Sue,
we had to lay ply on the bathroom floorboards but they were in a bad state but I was hoping to not have to in the kitchen, hopefully I can persuade hubby to change from the cold tiled floor to a warmer vinyl before the winter. Your kitchen is lovely by the way. jane
