Festering

Charlie says it all looks very 'festering' here at The Quince Tree.

The tree is lit and decorated, lights are strung around the living room and I cannot find the little red baubles I put on the door wreath anywhere. No matter, everything looks fabulous.

Those little glass baubles I bought a few weeks ago just disappeared when I hung them on the tree. All the other decorations and the lights made them look insignificant so I had to rethink.

I have a lot of these little tumblers which if I remember correctly cost 40p each from Ikea. Arranged on the mantelpiece amongst my tealights they look so pretty.

  1. Looks very festive and pretty. My decorations are all still in the box under the eaves guess I ought to get them out this week and think about getting some up!

  7. I failed to find a box of small baubles like yours, but did manage to get sets of single colour from Tesco (small, but not mini). I have hung them onto slender branches of dogwood, and they suit perfectly, so thank you. I wouldn't have gone looking for them if I hadn't seen them on here! Must get going with the rest of the decs now.

  8. I love this idea and they look great.

I just read your December 10th post which really made me laugh.
Mainly because I agree with so many of your Christmas does and don't.

  9. Lovely Sue :D

Hardly a decoration in sight here yet. I'll sort them tomorrow, if nothing else happens to derail me!

  11. You are obviously better organised than me - still have it all to do - the tumblers are a great idea.

  13. You've given those pretty little ornaments a beautiful setting. And, you've reminded me that I had better get cracking with some of my own decorating, once I get through with wrapping and mailing gifts today.

  14. Ooo my comment just disappeared!
I just wanted to say your baubles look beautiful. I actually bought some new ones for the first time in years and they look almost too nice to get out of the box!
    Happy christmas Sue.

  15. Looking lovely! Sue, can I request the basic recipe for your Sweetcorn and Blackbean stew? I expect it is so self explanatory that you didn't think anyone would need it but I wondered if you spiced it up at all. I am desperately trying to get my kids to eat pulses of any kind and it looked like a winner! Thanks

    1. Hi Emma,

The recipe varies slightly each time I make it but it is essentially this one without the eggs but with a couple of handfuls of cooked black beans(one tin). I generally use the creole spice blend you can see in the picture but cajun spices, paprika or smoked paprika are good too.
We're having a variation on this tonight actually -black beans, kidney beans and chorizo.
