Today I have;
begun a jigsaw, unclogged the drain filter of the washing machine, and cleaned out my kitchen cupboards. Why am I still storing the paracetamol and matches 'out of reach of children' when my children are nearly all taller than me?
I have eaten cherries and strawberries for breakfast, bacon and gruyère baguette for lunch and steak for supper.
Now I am going to finish a tub of Haagen Dazs, pour a glass of wine and watch North and South.

I think I want your life.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me and I loe your little candle and flower arrangement on the plate.
ReplyDeleteSounds blissful Sue - a couple of years ago Mark took the boys away for a week. I loved having time on my own and reading this I have decided to persuade Mark to repeat the experience for me.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about next year GCSE's and A levels, quite the treat.
What an extremely civilized bout of solitude you are having. I know that if it were me, the unaccustomed peace would go to my head and I would live on apples and Biona mini pineapple rings, with minimal dishwashing.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a good deal healthier than my diet of steak, ice cream and chocolate Mise.
DeleteYou really know how to do it right Sue! Sounds lovely. I really like the part about the wine and Haagen Dazs.
DeleteI look forward to your "not camping" posts each year.
Oh wow can I come for dinner & Haagen Dazs!!!

You certainly have an artist's eye for food and flowers....they look divine. Hmm, mental note to clean out the kitchen cupboards after harvest!

What a brilliant 'no camping' day!
ReplyDeleteNext time you have a No Camping week, can I come? I'll happily do household chores in exchange for your cooking!
ReplyDeleteI will think of you while I AM camping this weekend. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteYou are really living The Life!
ReplyDeleteWill you be showing the returning campers your own holiday photos?
Cheers!
All the food looks stunning i bet you have a great "no camping day".
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend

I've always claimed camping for me is like staying in a lovely hotel without room service! I'd rather be home in the surrounds of my home. I love North and South, have watched it many times including when it first debuted in the Fall of '83. The costumes are candy to my eye. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI think you are thinking of a different North and South. I'm talking about the 2004 BBC adaptation Elizabeth Gaskell novel not the American civil war series with Patrick Swayze :)
DeleteI could so happily scoff that baguette just now. It's all sounding very relaxed round at yours Sue unlike here where the rain buckets down meaning we are all housebound and the noise level is reaching unbearable...sigh x
ReplyDeleteYour family will be envious when they hear what you have been eating while they have been away! I think you got the best deal!

HaHa! Love the whole post...cheering you on from the sidelines in your determination to enjoy yourself while the rest of 'em are being silly. What made me really laugh was you keeping the matches and medicines out of reach of tiny hands....no longer needed; I do this too, and I'm sure there are hundreds of safety conscious women out there who do similar.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of movie. I LOVE North and South!
